This might actually be the most important tip I give out to those of you beginning on your fitness and weight loss journeys. I cannot tell you how important it is to love your body the way it is now before you go off trying to change it!
Lots of people — men and women alike — strive to lose weight because they’re dissatisfied with the way they look now. They hate their big thighs, or tummy rolls, or whatever other part of their body, and they think that losing weight automatically means that they will then love all these parts of themselves.
I’m here to tell you that’s not how it works.
You’ve got to love your body the way it is right now. If you don’t start loving yourself now, you’re going to be travelling down a dangerous road when you start losing weight. You’ve gotta embrace those thunder thighs and that belly, and you’ve got to do it now!
Yes, it is possible to love your body AND want to lose weight. Don’t make your weight loss about hating your body and wanting to destroy it — make it about improving the body you already have, through healthy eating and exercise. And hey, if you happen to lose some weight along the way, then that’s great :)
